What exactly is the lymphatic system?

What should I do before my appointment?

What should I do after my appointment?

What can I do in between appointments to help my lymphatic system?

How often should I get treatments?

The lymphatic system is like your body’s cleanup crew. Imagine tiny roads all over your body carrying a special clear liquid called lymph. This liquid picks up trash, like bacteria, viruses, toxins and waste, and carries it to little cleaning stations called lymph nodes. The lymph nodes are like garbage trucks with white blood cells that get rid of the bad stuff. After its cleaned through your lymph nodes, the waste enters your blood and is sent to your kidneys to leave the body. The lymphatic system also helps your body fight off sickness and moves important things your body needs, like fats from your food. It keeps everything clean and working smoothly so you can stay healthy!

To maximize the effectiveness of your treatment and support your body’s natural detoxification process, increase your water intake the day before and the day of your session. Avoid alcohol, processed foods, and sugar during this time to further enhance the results. Additionally, I recommend refraining from eating at least 1-2 hours before your treatment to ensure comfort during your session.

After your lymphatic drainage appointment, it's important to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water to help flush out toxins released during the session. Avoid alcohol, processed foods, and sugar for at least 24 hours to support your body’s detoxification process. Gentle movement, such as walking or stretching, can encourage continued lymphatic flow. Prioritize rest and recovery, and consider incorporating a warm bath, sauna session, or light self-massage to enhance the benefits of the treatment.

Between lymphatic treatments, staying hydrated, moving your body with light exercise, practicing deep breathing, and maintaining a healthy diet can support your lymphatic system. Incorporate self-care techniques like dry brushing, self-massage, and elevating your legs to encourage drainage and enhance the benefits of your sessions.

Each person’s wellness journey is unique, but incorporating a monthly or bi-monthly detox and cleanse can be a valuable practice for maintaining overall health. For those with specific medical concerns or focused on weight loss, more frequent sessions may be necessary at first to support the body’s adjustment to the drainage process. Once acclimated, transitioning to a monthly maintenance schedule is highly beneficial. Staying hydrated, incorporating sauna sessions, movement, dry brushing, gua sha, or rebounding can amplify the benefits of the treatment and increase overall lymphatic benefits.
